Videos de Música
The music videos are finally ready to share! Before you view, I want to share a few words about the process with you. The music videos have four main purposes, first to review words that the students have been practicing, second to give the students ownership of their learning, third to let students have fun with the language, and fourth to show students that Spanish is an active part of our world (not just a part of the classroom). Editing the videos is a lot of work, but it is AMAZING to see how much the students have learned this year. It is also wonderful to see how much fun they have while making the videos. Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me!
The music videos are a student driven project. While last year I chose songs for the students, this year each grade level voted on the song they wanted to make. Students also picked their own groups, picked the part of the song they wanted to perform, made up their own moves, and chose their own backgrounds. While many students chose costumes that 'fit' their parts (i.e. a teacher wearing a suit), many other students chose costumes that are 'outside the box' (i.e. instead of being a cat, they were a 'princess cat'). Allowing students to choose what they wear allows them to express themselves in a unique way and makes each video customized to what the student's personalities (it also gives us a chance to learn some new vocabulary that is important to the students). Many groups made amazing props as well! For more detailed information about the process at each grade level, please see below. To view last years music videos, click the green button below.

Kinder
Kindergarten student's chose the song "Pollito Pío", this fit nicely with our unit on animals. In this song the students reviewed/learned the following animals : there is (hay) chick (pollito), hen (gallina), rooster (gallo), turkey (pavo), dove (paloma), cat(gato), dog (perr0), goat (cabra), lamb (cordero), cow (vaca), bull (toro), and tractor. As each animal is added to the group, the words say "En la radio hay (and then the animal). I left "In the radio there is" out, so as not to cover up all the enthusiastic dancers. Thank you for sharing your special young learners with me!

segundo (2nd)
Second grade students chose the most challenging song offered, "Las Excusas". This is a Sr. Wooly song and was written to teach students high frequency words in a funny way. Sr. Wooly's site can be visited here, and all students already have an account. A note was sent home once, and another will go home next week (unlock codes expire after a week). This is a great resources for the summer! Second and third grade students have full access to Sr. Wooly's site. This song is a story/song about a girl who forgot to do her Spanish homework, and her 8 excuses. Words practiced include: maestra (teacher), tengo (I have), ocho (8), excusas (excuses). Ordinal numbers (primero (first), segundo (second), tercero (third), cuarto (fourth), quinto (fifth), sexto (sixth) séptimo (seventh), and octavo (eighth). Tercer (3rd)
Third grade students chose a Sr. Wooly song (Sé Chévere/Be cool). This song is written for Spanish students and is used to review many high frequency words. This is a Sr. Wooly song and was written to teach students high frequency words in a funny way. Sr. Wooly's site can be visited here, and all students already have an account. A note was sent home once, and another will go home next week (unlock codes expire after a week). This is a great resource for summer practice! It is also considered very challenging, and I am impressed with what the students accomplished. This song is about a teacher that decides to let their students break all of the rules. While the students love it because they get to "break the rules" in the song, we also use it as a discussion about why each of the broken rules is important (i.e. we can't all go to the bathroom together because everyone would be gone all the time, etc.) This is a good review of why rules are important for this time of the school year.
Words practiced included: hola (hello), profe (teacher), soy (I am ), buenos días good morning), tienes (you have), tengo (I have), secreto (secret), descansa (rest), silla (chair), grites (yell), enojes (anger), chicle (gum), maestro (also teacher), importante (important), es (is), cómo (how), corbata (tie), hice (I did) tarea (homework), tomar (to drink), refresco (pop). baño (bathroom), libro (book), hoy es viernes (today is Friday), video, amigos (friends), carro (car), insecto (insect), puedo (can I).
